E.G.S News :
* Volume 37 ( Part 1 ) of the bi-annual ( Arab Geographical journal )
has been published , comprising ten papers submitted by professional geographers
from the different Arab Countries, covering many areas of geographical research.
( part2) is scheduled for circulation by September 2001 .

*Professor M.S. Abulezz President of the Egyptian Geographical Society
has been chosen as a member of the International Editorial Board of the " Arab World Geographer'',
the quarterly Journal comprising research articles pertaining to the Arab World ( Toronto, Canada ).

*The fifth expose of the Geographical Research Series, the occasional publication of
recent Egyptian contributions in the field of geographical research – is now
on sale under the title " The mineral resources and development potentialities in Egypt "
written by Dr. A.A. Dardier, former Director of the Geological Survey of Egypt .

*Volume 74 ( for 2001 ) of the " Bulletin of the Egyptian Geographical Society
( published regularily since 1876 ) is scheduled to be published and circulated
by the middle of September 2001, including 9 research articles contributed
by eminent geographers, together with introductory speech of
" MR. Kofi Annan " the U.N. Secretary General, addressed to the 97 annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers. ( 1 st, March 2001 ).

*The Egyptian Geographical Society has Received the First Monthly Newsletter ( May 2001 )
of the I.G.U. Published for the first time in the " Home of Geography " at Villa Celimontana
" Rome, including detailed information about the objectives, functions and available facilities at the Home of Geography .

*The I.G.U. Ragional Conference to be held in Durban, South Africa from 4-7 August 2002 will tackle a general theme entitled " Geographical renaissance at the dawn of the millennium" thus attracting a large number of contributions and participants . The second announcement and call for papers has been widely circulated.

Prof . Eckart Ehlers former Secretary General and Treasurer
of the I.G.U. has submitted a Report on the Second Meeting of Arab Geographers
( Cairo 21-23 Nov. 2000 ) which has been published in the I.G.U. Bulletin ( No. 50-2-2000 ) . following is the full text of this report.

The Egyptian Geographic Society has published the proceeding of the 2nd meeting of the arab geographers in 3 volume covering the inaugural speaker and the papers submitted as well as the final report and recommendations
