Of Egyptian Ethnography
This hall includes a large collection of objects related to traditional
habits and customs in Egypt with special emphasis on the aspect of geographical
distribution and spatial differentiation. A number of paintings illustrating
many of the folkloric customs and rituals which still persist at the
present, eg. ( wedding ceremonies, zar rituals, public baths, circumcision,
smoking habits, women's ornaments, clothings, musical instruments, toys
..etc.). In display also, are valuable collections of interlaced stucco
and coloured-glass windows with old Islamic designs. The hall of Egyptian
ethnography gives the visitor a short and unique review of the traits
and specificities of the vernacular aspects of life in the different
parts of Egypt.
